This unit was developed through a University of Vermont course -- Inquiry-Based Learning and Technology. At the same time, this unit was also piloted, in a much looser version, with two classes of fifth and sixth grade students. They are to be credited with naming the project, The School Yard Informer. The students have also helped shape this unit by actually doing pieces of it. I've fine-tuned a lot of our original undertaking for the purposes of my graduate class and it stands as a strong unit because of this very real interplay between theory and practice. This unit that has worked out well for a group of enthusiastic and not so enthusiastic learners. We've all learned a lot and I hope you did too.
